I was in prison and you came to visit me…
By:Merlin Gonzales
November 15-18 this year, I was blessed to be part of the Kairos Prison Ministry team. We ministered to 42 offenders at Pendleton Correctional Facility in Pendleton, IN. From the 16th on, we spent at least 10 hours per day in the facility interacting with the offenders, bringing the love of Christ to them.
After the four-day ministry, here are some of the testimonials I heard:
“My main priority now is not to get out of the prison but to do the will of God and to be part of His Kingdom inside the prison.”
“I have never seen so much love in this place ever.”
“Not only was I full physically with the good-tasting food, I was also filled by the presence of the Holy Spirit.”
“I would like to bring the blessings I received over the weekend to the rest of the population in the facility.”
Several people accepted Jesus as their Savior, and many re-committed themselves to Christ. One offender who is about 330 lbs., 6’3” and a former football player came to the Kairos weekend for food. He shared with us that,
previously, he was an atheist and no one could convince him about Christianity. He said that there is no God, let alone a loving God. But just after two days with the Kairos team, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Jesus said in Matthew 25:36, “I was in prison and you came to visit me.’” Every time I go to the prison, I feel blessed and it gives me a new perspective in life.
Do you want to see miracles and wonders this holiday season? Keep your eyes open and be available to the calling of Jesus in your life. He wants to use you on His behalf. Once you allow that to happen, it will be just a matter of time before you will witness the glory of God working through you and others. And that will be the greatest gift that you will ever receive this Christmas. |
